I don’t have a lot of time this morning before we go to Hot Water Beach & our net connection is slow so forgive me.
- Drove south, east, then north from Aukland.
- Lunch in Tairua.
- Never seen so many cows/so much cattle in one day; cattle farm (meat cows, not dairy) every 2ish miles with 50-100+ head.
- Saw some sheep, horses, alpaca, beehives too.
- Hydrangea are in bloom + a ton of other flowers, including Queen Anne’s Lace.
- Yes, one can get car sick 2x in one day – poor kiddo (our host’s son Ronald).
- Walked/hiked all of Te Whanganui-A-Hei (Cathedral Cove) Marine Reserve (Gemstone Bay, Stingray Bay, Cathedral Cove).
Stunning views. Just gorgeous blue skies and waves. “Stick to your knitting” is New Zealand-ese, I presume? Happy Holidays. 🙂

I assume it is; I’ve never heard that phrase before. Maybe one of the Brits or the Kiwi that follow me will weigh in though. I thought it was neat. Happy Holidays to you too!

Stunning! So envious! What’s the hiking like?

The hiking at Cathedral Cove was difficult for me because I’m so out of shape, but I think it was relatively easy for seasoned hikers. Melanie, our host, said the gov’t spend a ton of money improving the paths & installing the stairways – the path is 6″ think packed dirt & small gravel, with stairs on the really steep parts. But Hot Water beach is easily accessible, though I did see some hiking paths. HTH!
