The Week April 17-23, 2017

Last week’s goals with progress indicated:

  • Continue the fronts for Aspen.
Done. No, really: the fronts are done. I finished them last night and haven’t even taken a picture. (Sorry.)
  • Weave in some of the ends on Aranami & knit at least 1 new wedge.
Nope. I didn’t pick up this shawl up at all.
  • Go to TKD belt ceremony on Saturday.
Done. I’m rocking an orange belt now.
  • Replace the etsy shop link in @madgeface twitter account with link to this.
    Done.
  • Write or work on a poem a day, continuing with separate posts. Thanks to everyone who’s read a poem or two!
Done, even for Easter. It’s going much better than it did in 2014.

I also started spinning a batt that I got last spring in a swap. I’m sort of spinning from the fold instead of my usual, or spinning side to side rather than top to bottom, if that makes sense. I should do some reading so I can use the proper terms again for what I’m doing but it’s been so long a little Alden Amos will be helpful.

Next week:

  • Start Aspen‘s back.
  • Weave in some of the ends on Aranami & knit at least 1 new wedge OR spin more.
  • Go to TKD twice.
  • Go to Science March in DC on Saturday. I have my official tshirt, I just need to seek out details, like the start & end points. Need to decide on a sign or no sign.
  • Carry on with the poetry every day. Thanks to everyone who’s read and liked the posts – poetry isn’t for everyone, and then some people (me!) are very picky about what they like, so I really appreciate the reading/likes.
Spinning progress. This part of the batt more closely matches my leader yarn (bottom part of the bobbin in the picture), so it’s more of a burgundy and brown than a gray black, but I’m having a moment adjusting the colors, so here it is.

The Week April 10-16, 2017

Last week’s goals with progress indicated:

      • Knit 1 or more wedge of Aranami.
Done. I knit 2 wedges and ended a row & color.
      • Cast on the fronts of Aspen.
Done. I finished the ribbing and started the cabling. It’s going swimmingly!

I started the fronts for my Aspen cardi - hurray! . . . . #knitting #handknit #stickning #strikke #strikking #knittersofinstagram #tricot #knittersgonnaknit #knittinglove #tejar #knittingaddict #knitting_inspiration #knittinglove #knittersofravelry #yar

    • Go to TKD twice – once for practice, once for testing.
Done. Practice was fine, and while I passed both belt tests (yellow & orange), I’m  not happy with how it went. I wasn’t prepared (by instructors) for part of the test, I should have practiced a few things more on my own (counting & basic movements), and nerves. Next time will be better.
    • Learn to count in Korean from 11-30 (I already know 1-10).
Done but I need to practice all that I can so that I associate the words with a number rather than having the sequence memorized.
    • Add more pictures to Society 6 and let my FB people know.
Done. There was a sale, too, so that gave me another reason to post.
    • Replace the blog link in Instagram with a link to Socitey 6. And since I’m on the subject, replace etsy shop link in @madgeface twitter account with link to this.
I changed my mind about the Instagram link; I’m leaving it. But I do need to update twitter, still.
    • Write or work on a poem a day. I’m going to be doing separate posts for this; my apologies if poetry isn’t your thing. I have no expectation that anyone will read the poems but rather am posting for personal accountability.
      Done.

This week:

  • Continue the fronts for Aspen.
  • Weave in some of the ends on Aranami & knit at least 1 new wedge.
  • Go to TKD belt ceremony on Saturday.
  • Replace the etsy shop link in @madgeface twitter account with link to this.
  • Write or work on a poem a day, continuing with separate posts. Thanks to everyone who’s read a poem or two!
  • Enjoy the beautiful spring weather.
    Already done. 🙂

The Week April 3-9, 2017

Last week’s goals with progress indicated:

      • Knit 1 or more wedge of Aranami.
Nope. I didn’t pick it up at all.
      • Do the math to figure out the stitch count for the fronts & back of Aspen since I’m doing a shorter version. I have the vague idea that the cabling should start around where the belt loops (which I’m not doing according to pattern) go.
        Done, reluctantly and finally yesterday.
      • Go to TKD twice.
Done! Testing for my yellow and orange belts this week like a superstar. Just need to learn how to count to 30 in Korean.
      • Add more pictures to Society 6 and let my FB people know.
Done, except for the self-promotion; I hate tooting my own horn this way.
      • Decide yes/no on NaPoWriMo and yes/no on 100 day project (likely writing) since April is Saturday, the start day for both.
Yes. But I didn’t start Saturday, or even Sunday, I’m starting today. And also, I’m making my own personal rules for NaPoWriMo; I get to edit and revise if I choose rather than writing a new poem each day while still keeping it interesting for readers (assuming I have some), which means not working on the same piece 983498372 days in a row.
      • Come up with a good (not completely awful and humiliating) April Fool’s joke to play on Ky & the boys. Or, alternately, rise above it/go into full denial and just call it April 1.
I didn’t come up with a big benign prank and none were played on me if I only count people I know IRL. April Fools is my least favorite holiday.
      • Start a cat cave for Jeff (and later, one for Eevee) since he likes his improvised one so much:
Done – the scant details are on Ravelry. They both like the cat cave and have attacked each other in it. Gotta make one for Eevee or make a proper mat/blanket for the cat tree Ky made.

Jeff wishes everyone a happy #Caturday from his new cat cave! #jeffreylebowski #catstagram #catsofworld #catsandyarn #catsofinstagram #catcave #cathouse #catyurt #catyurtsofinstagram

Next week:

    • Knit 1 or more wedge of Aranami.
    • Cast on the fronts of Aspen.
    • Go to TKD twice – once for practice, once for testing.
    • Learn to count in Korean from 11-30 (I already know 1-10).

The Week March 27-April 2, 2017

Last week’s goals with progress indicated:

      • Knit 3 or more wedges of Aranami.
Not done – I got caught up in cables and finishing the Aspen sleeves, so I only managed 1 last night.
      • Start sleeve cap shaping on Aspen sleeves.
Done. Started and finished – the sleeves are done. See?

I finished the sleeves for my Aspen cardi (by @mishi2x) this weekend. On to calculating to make it shorter, balling more yarn, and starting the fronts. This cat-free picture brought to you by blue bouncy ball, the great distractor.

    • Go to TKD twice.
      Done – I went thrice.
    • Add more pictures to Society 6 and let my FB people know.
Done. Maybe I should replace the blog link in Instagram with a link to S6? And since I’m on the subject, maybe replace etsy shop link in @madgeface twitter account with link to this.

I also started an exercise challenge, egged on by my old roller derby buddies and an article in Runner’s World: 30 burpees (full burpees, with pushups) for 15 days. Today will be day 7 since we started last Tuesday. I pulled or strained something in my shoulder so it aches at rest and hurts when I turn my neck. I’m not sure if I’m going to keep going or not – is the pain just my body getting used to doing pushups again or did I really pull something? (Can you tell I’m putting off today’s 30 burpees by writing about them instead?)

Next week:

    • Knit 1 or more wedge of Aranami.
    • Do the math to figure out the stitch count for the fronts & back of Aspen since I’m doing a shorter version. I have the vague idea that the cabling should start around where the belt loops (which I’m not doing according to pattern) go.
